Reader, Dave alerted me to this hilarious, creative, and very well done music video- a parody by the Mike Church Show Band of the Simon & Garfunkel classic, "Mrs. Robinson."
*A couple disclaimers:
This isn't an unqualified endorsement of Mike Church or his song parodies. While browsing around, I also stumbled upon a Mike Church parody entitled "Manuel Went Down To Georgia" which, as you can imagine, was racially charged and espoused a protectionist view of American immigration policy that is just plain inconsistent with Mike's pro-free market capitalism rhetoric. I still thought that "Mr. Jefferson" was an excellent find and merited sharing with you.
Also, this isn't an unqualified endorsement of President Thomas Jefferson. Although he was a powerful rhetorical champion of freedom, in terms of suiting action and policy to words he fell quite short of the mark in my estimation. He owned slaves, made the unconstitutional Louisiana Purchase, forcibly relocated Native Americans, and levied an embargo on foreign trade with Europe, violating Americans' economic freedom and causing a severe economic downturn. My feelings on Jefferson are very mixed, but once again, I loved the spirit of this song, I thought it was very well done, and I cherish Simon and Garfunkel.
Here's one more from the great ones themselves:
