While searching around on the net, I found this awesome quotation as a "letter to the editor" of Salon.com, signed by the pseudonymous "Calvin Coolidge."
Assuming that liberals have a monopoly on the golden rule just because they want to use the most coercive, inefficient, blunt-trauma institution in the world - the US Federal Government - to express their love is facetious.
I tried to search and find if it's the commentator's original quotation, or if he (or she) is quoting someone else, but turned up nothing. Frankly it reminds me so much of something I would have read in Ayn Rand's Capitalism, The Unknown Ideal or The Virtue of Selfishness. It even sounds like her style of writing.
