One More Reason to Love Rand Paul

I recently started reading Rand Paul's new book, The Tea Party Goes to Washington, and right off the bat the dedication in the front struck me with two things I love about both Rand Paul and his father, Ron Paul: 1) They're both incredibly huge geeks, and 2) They're both good and faithful husbands to amazingly strong and supportive women.

Rand Paul's dedication reads:

For Kelley Ashby Paul:

What are the important things? Scratch my head... silence enough to hear my watch tick. Time, have I time to even consider the important things? "Even when I sit still I sit still in a hurry"
-Malamud

Beyond, between and above all else you, the girl, my wife, my love, can and do complete all syllogisms my circular brain can create. For me, you are the important things.

Forgive me for gushing, but what an incredibly romantic and totally geeky dedication to the woman he loves! When I first heard about Ron Paul's presidential campaign, I admired him for staying married to the same woman for so long when so many politicians cheat and divorce. It was an indicator that unlike many politicians, Ron Paul has integrity and a sense of honor.

On the campaign trail in Kentucky, I admired the elegance, poise, and confidence of Kelley Paul when she spoke. To say nothing of Rand Paul, I imagine that Kelley Paul would make a most suitable First Lady of the United States, wouldn't she? It's good to know that Senator Paul is grounded by his family and his conviction that his wife is "the important things" in life.

Now if only I could find my own important things.
