This is a problem Obama has had in the past.
I decided to dig up President Bush's announcement that Saddam Hussein had been captured to see if Dubya had been this egocentric in his appraisal of the actions leading up to Hussein's capture... he definitely was not. Whatever you may think about these presidents (and frankly I don't like either one of them for increasing the size, role, and influence of Washington over our lives at breakneck speed), can we be fair and agree that Bush never acted this childish and self-centered when he took the podium?
Watch for yourself and see:
Just listen to that torrent of "me, me, me" from Obama:
"Shortly after taking office, I directed Leon Panetta, the director of the CIA, to make the killing or capture of bin Laden the top priority of our war against Al Qaeda... then last August, after years of painstaking work by our intelligence community, I was briefed on a possible lead to bin Laden... I met repeatedly with my national security team as we developed more information about the possibility that we had located bin Laden... finally, last week, I determined that we had enough intelligence to take action, and authorized an operation to get Osama bin Laden and bring him to justice. Today, at my direction, the United States launched a targeted operation against that compound..."
One of Obama's favorite phrases is "let me be clear." Well he certainly wanted to be very clear that HE was the guy behind all this and should get the credit for it. Has America ever had a president more self-absorbed and immature than Obama?
And in case you think I unfairly edited these videos and Bush was self-centered just like Obama in some segment of his announcement that I didn't show, here's a link to Bush's full "Hussein captured" announcement:
And to Obama's full "bin Laden confirmed dead" announcement:
