Oh NO He Didn't. Rick Santorum Gaffes: What does John McCain know about torture?

John McCain, who was tortured for five years as a prisoner of war in the Vietnam conflict, has not been taking too kindly to the notion that Osama bin Laden's death somehow justifies torture, and has done an excellent job refuting the claim that "enhanced interrogation" techniques or waterboarding led us to bin Laden.

Leave it to Bush era, neocon, torture-supporting Republican, Rick Santorum to say one of the most stupid, ignorant, insensitive things yet in the Republican Primary. He said on Hugh Hewitt's radio show that John McCain "doesn’t understand how enhanced interrogation works."

Now I've never been a fan of Senator McCain, and didn't support his 2008 candidacy for president, but if the man has credibility to speak on any one issue-- he's got all the credibility in the world when it comes to torture as a tool of warfare, and I have to give him credit for taking a stand against it.

Rick Santorum is going to take some serious and much-deserved criticism for saying that John McCain "doesn't understand how enhanced interrogation works." Santorum has never been tortured while serving his country like John McCain. Santorum has also never served in his nation's military.

In fact, the only candidate in the GOP race so far to have served in the U.S. Military is Congressman Ron Paul, and like John McCain, he opposes waterboarding detainees.
