Carville is probably right. The Dems never liked Obamacare and actually wanted a 100% government controlled single payer healthcare system. Obamacare was designed to be a stepping stone to a nationalized healthcare system. I really don't think that the Dems ever care if the Supreme Court overturns it except that such a ruling would clearly constitute an affront to Obama's signature legislation. Moreover, the greater issue at stake here involves the possibility that if the Supreme Court nullifies Obamacare partially or wholly, would this signal the possibility that the Supreme Court might finally be motivated to reverse its decades old habit of upholding every federal government power grab? Don't count on it.
While the Obama administration fights to protect the constitutionality of the Affordable Care Act, Democratic strategist and CNN contributor James Carville said a Supreme Court overruling may not be such a bad thing for the president, politically. "I think this will be the best thing that has ever happened to the Democratic Party," Carville said Tuesday on CNN's "The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer." He added: "You know, what the Democrats are going to say, and it is completely justified, 'We tried, we did something, go see a 5-4 Supreme Court majority'."
