Obama's Department of Labor claims ownership of children and wants to ban them from working on family farms and learning vital skills. We are only allowed to know and do what the government says we can know and do. Everything else is forbidden, outlawed and illegal.
So says Senator Jerry Moran (R – KS), by way of introducing legislation that would preempt the Department of Labor’s war on farm kids which would see regulations put in place that are so stringent, farm kids couldn’t even operate things like a battery-powered screwdriver or a pressurized garden hose. “If this proposal goes into effect, not only will the shrinking rural workforce be further reduced, and our nation’s youth be deprived of valuable career training opportunities, but a way of life will begin to disappear,” said Senator Moran. “This proposal should alarm more than just rural America. If the federal government can regulate the relationship between parents and their children on their own family’s farm, there is virtually nothing off limits when it comes to government intrusion into our lives.” It seems to me that farm families were getting along just fine long before the federal government decided to start regulating chores.
