Illinois lawsuit filed to keep strip club away from Catholic convent

Yeah, nuns do good community service work and yes, it was a stupid idea to choose as a strip club location a piece of property next to a convent. But still, it's an issue of private property rights and the nuns shouldn't be able to ban the strip club (it's no ordinary strip shopping center strip club, it's a $3 million dollar strip club.) Now if the nuns would focus on their negotiating powers they'd inform the strip club owners that the occupants of the entire convent will be in the strip club every night. Think about what that would do for strip club business. Of course, they could also stand in front of the strip club dressed in full nun gear and jot down license plate numbers from the parking lot to post on Facebook. A violation of privacy? Damn right but why can't the nuns do what the government does all day long?
A lawsuit has been filed in Stone Park, Illinois, on behalf of local residents and the Missionary Sisters of St. Charles Borromeo, The Thomas More Society and its attorneys are demanding that the Village of Stone Park put a halt to construction of a three-million dollar strip club, "Get It," located several feet from the property line of the Catholic convent. The Thomas More Society is a law firm and advocacy organization based in Chicago. According to a news release, "For over 60 years, the Sisters of St. Charles have devoted their lives to teaching the children of Stone Park -- service for which they're now being repaid with a 'porno palace' towering over their convent," said Peter Breen, executive director of the Thomas More Society.
