More than a quarter of U.S. women in a study by Medco took a medication to treat depression, anxiety or attention deficit disorder in 2010, an increase from a decade earlier and a higher rate than men. The big pharmacy-benefits manager analyzed a sample of more than two million patients’ pharmacy records and found 26% of women took drugs to treat mental-health issues in 2010, up from 22% in 2001. Just 15% of men took these medications in 2010, up from 12%.
