Govt backs off new limits on child labor on farms

Activism does make a huge difference. Obama backs down on his Labor Dept. rules to ban children from working on family farms. Of course, it's election year and if Obama is re-elected the rules will be right back after the election. The Republicans have savaged Obama pretty bad over these proposed rules.
Under heavy pressure from farm groups, the Obama administration is dropping an effort to prevent children from doing hazardous work on farms owned by anyone other than their parents. The Labor Department says it is withdrawing proposed rules that would ban children younger than 16 from using most power-driven equipment.
