Congressional Dems Introduce Amendment To Make Self Defense Illegal

There is no such thing as a 'shoot first law' despite the fact that anti-gun folks are invoking the term in a manner totally out of context with the issue. The laws in question are 'Castle Doctrine' laws that were enacted to legalize self defense and the defense of one's home/family in situations where they are threatened with deadly force. The 'Castle Doctrine' laws do not given anyone the right to shoot an intruder/trespasser or anybody without justifiable cause and the only justifiable cause is self-defense in situations where threats are acute and deadly. These laws were passed in response to situations where folks were criminally prosecuted for the 'crime' of legitimate self defense. Of course, it's totally insane that a 'Castle Doctrine' law would even be necessary because self-defense is a natural right.
The Congressional Progressive Caucus has announced it will introduce legislation designed to strip Americans of the right to defend themselves. Called “Stop Shoot First Laws,” the amendment to the Commerce, Justice, Science Appropriations bill under consideration in the House would deny states federal funding allocated under section 505 of the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 if they continue to allow citizens to defend themselves.
